Q60 Screen Black or Not Working? Troubleshooting and Fix
A black or unresponsive screen on your Infiniti Q60 is usually one of three things: a software freeze, a failing control unit, or a hardware connection issue. Here's how to narrow it down.
Quick Fixes to Try First
- Hard reset: Hold the power/volume knob for 10+ seconds until the system reboots
- Battery disconnect: Remove the negative battery terminal for 15 minutes, reconnect. This forces a full system restart
- Check the fuse: The InTouch system fuse is in the interior fuse box. Consult your owner's manual for the exact position
If these don't resolve it, the problem is likely hardware.
Common Hardware Causes
- InTouch control unit failure — the most common cause of permanent black screen. The unit overheats over time
- LCD ribbon cable — can work loose from vibration, especially on earlier Q60 models
- Backlight failure — screen is technically on but backlight is dead. Shine a flashlight at the screen — if you can faintly see the UI, it's the backlight
Repair vs Upgrade
Dealer repair for the InTouch control unit runs $1,500-2,500+. You get the same factory system back.
For roughly the same cost, the G-Series head unit ($1,099) replaces the entire system with a 13.6" Android 13 touchscreen. Wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, Google Play Store, and all your factory features (steering wheel controls, backup camera, climate, Bose) continue working. The Q50 and Q60 share the same dash architecture, so it's the same unit.
